Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was established in 1920 and evolved out of the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College (MAO College) which was set up in 1877 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. AMU comprises over 1600 academic staff and 27,000 students.

AMU is member of the following work packages:

  • 2.1b

Genetic research will be conducted to work out which genes in crops affect how well they use nitrogen so more nitrogen efficient crops, which create less waste, can be developed
