Marine Research Centre (MRC) was founded in 1984 as the research arm of the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture (MOFMRA). President of Maldives has restructured and transformed MRC to the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), effective from August 2019, to better address the current marine and fisheries research needs of the country.
MMRI is a member of the following work packages:
